11/1/2011 So what scary things did you do or dress up as on Halloween? I went to a very scary place... Inside myself! I began with a new therapist on this auspicious day. He came well recommended from friends. He is fairly new to the area from New Orleans. His office is in an old historic building, full of art and big overstuffed furniture. It felt almost Gothic. He has this great Naw'oleans accent. And he is Jungian in his approach. We shared a common language immediately. Our first session was 2 hours the early evening of Halloween. My life makes me laugh sometimes!
I have not gone to a therapist for a long time. But I am feeling more than ready to dive deep with a guide. I very much resonate with his approach, from his bio: 'Depth psychology offers no "cure". Instead, it is a healing journey into the mystery of the psyche, a process of refinement and increased awareness, bringing us freedom to choose differently and creatively. In an intimate dialogue, patient and therapist may analyze dreams, use art, literature, and music to reveal the symbolic nature of psychic material.' And we clicked... Finding him is perfect timing. Synchronicity. I also signed up for NaNoWiMo. National Write a Novel in a Month. A commitment to write 50,000 words in a month. I am not writing a novel. But I found out there is 'Rebel' community in NaNo. The non-fiction writers. So just call me a Rebel! To write that many words (about 1700 a day) much of it is just allowing them to flow. So it will be interesting to figure out and choose what ends up here. Because I do give this at least a bit of editing and I want it to be fairly smooth. But it is all exercise for a book. So this is just a quick check in to this blog. I already have been writing for several hours. I am beginning to tell the story of my journey at Burning Man. But is is not ready to post. Yet. The dark of the year is descending. I can feel it. Makes me sleepy... So my dreams call. Time to surrender to the rejuvenation found in rest. Dreamtime!
